PURPOSE: A gear shift apparatus for a manual transmission is provided to simplify structure by parking through double engaging without a hand brake, and to park stably in an inclined road. CONSTITUTION: A gear shift system is composed of a control shaft installed in a transmission to connect a select cable and a shift cable for rectilinear reciprocating motion and rotation; a control finger(4) combined with the control shaft; an interlock plate(6) fitted to the control shaft to protect the control finger; shift lugs(8,10,12) combined with the control finger for shifting gears; and first and second parking lugs(16,18) arranged at the sides of the shift lugs to engage two shift lugs for packing by operating the control finger. A shift lever is moved to a parking range with moving horizontally and backward. The control finger moves the first and second parking lugs forward or backward with moving rectilinearly or rotating the control shaft by the shift lever. A 3-range gear is engaged with a 4-range gear with moving forward or backward 3 and 4-range shift lugs connected to the first parking lug, and 1 and 2-range gears are engaged with each other with moving 1 and 2-range shift lugs forward or backward. Parking is performed with engaging the 1-range gear with the 2-range gear and the 3-range gear with the 4-range gear at the same time by the control finger.
