PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data managing method which protects the copyright when a multimedia program is recorded on an information storage medium and distributed. SOLUTION: On the information storage medium 110, the multimedia program 101 and a title key 108, and copyright information 109 are recorded. The title key 108 and copyright information 109 are recorded in a protect area on the information storage medium 110 and protected so that it can be read and updated only by a legal device complying with a copyright protecting method, thereby preventing the program from illegally being reproduced and copied by an illegal device. |
