PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader, a control method for the image reader and a medium by which an original read position can properly be set. SOLUTION: A read position at which an original supplied by a draft feeder is read in a state in which an optical scanning means is stopped at a prescribed read position is set on the basis of a result of reading a prescribed mark described on an original guide plate of the draft feeder.
