PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photometer capable of realizing photography with appropriate exposure considering influence exerted on an exposure value by the difference of the purity of the color of an object photographed by a camera. SOLUTION: A normal light photometric means 9D performs the division photometry of the object and an exposure decision means decides the exposure of the object based on the photometry output from the means 9D. Then, plural photometric means for colorimetry 9G, 9B and 9R perform photometry, judge the object color of the area and decide exposure correction amount based on the judged color. Furthermore, a difference between output from the photometric means for colorimetry on one color and output therefrom on the other color is obtained and the output showing the high purity of the color of the object is taken when the difference between them is large, and the exposure correction amount is decided to a large value. The appropriate exposure is decided corresponding to the difference of the purity of the color of the object, whereby the appropriate exposure is obtained.
