PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device which prevents switching elements from damage. SOLUTION: The power supply device has between its input terminal 1 and its output terminal 14 in the order an inrush current prevention circuit 4, a booster circuit 5, a converter circuit 10, a transformer 11, a first control circuit 16 for the converter circuit which is connected to the bias winding of the transformer, a second control circuit 15 for the booster circuit which is connected to the bias winding of the transformer, and provided with a protection circuit for the switching element which is connected to the bias winding is provided for the power supply device. The booster circuit has a choke coil 6 and a rectifier element in the direction from the inrush prevention circuit to the converter circuit, and a switching element 8 and a capacitor 9, 13, 17 and 23 which are disposed in parallel in front and rear of the rectifier element respectively.
