An electronic device capable of efficiently writing data into an EEPROM and providing the least possibility of data, stored in the EEPROM, of being rewritten on the market; and a production method therefor. The production method for the electronic device which has a substrate having a separable area and being provided with a central processing unit, an electrically rewritable, non-volatile storage element, and a connector in the area, and which directly controls the internal circuit of the central processing unit with the above area kept separated to prohibit data from being written into the storage element, the method being characterized by comprising a writing step of connecting an external device to the connector to directly control the internal logical circuit and writing data into the storage element, and the step of separating the area after the writing step.
