FLUID-ELASTIC VIBRATION DAMPER SYSTEM

An elevator system includes a hoistway and an elevator car assembly for traveling up and down within the hoistway. At least one fluid mount is mounted to the elevator car assembly to reduce fore-aft, side-to-side, and/or vertical vibrations. The fluid mount provides a stiff static damping rate and a soft dynamic damping rate to maximize vibration isolation under all elevator operating conditions. In one disclosed example, the fluid mount is incorporated into roller guide assemblies that ride along guide rails extending along the length of the hoistway.
