CUSTOM GEOMETRY BATTERY CELLS AND METHODS AND TOOLS FOR THEIR MANUFACTURE

An electrochemical cell having a custom shape or geometry is provided. The custom shape may include a curved portion such as a curved surface or edge. These custom geometry electrochemical cells find particular use in modern electronic devices having smaller sizes, more ergonomic designs and requiring specially shaped components. Methods for fabricating custom geometry electrochemical cells are also provided. These fabrication methods are sensitive to fabrication demands imposed by curved surfaces and alternate cell geometries. Custom tooling for fabricating battery cells having a custom shape or geometry are further provided.
