<p>A selective adsorbent for nitrogen comprising a zeolite having a crystal structure of a faujasite type, characterized in that it contains lithium ion and at least one of ammonium ion and proton as essential cations, and exhibits a nitrogen adsorption characteristic represented by a specific formula indicating a specific relationship between the number of associated Li+ ions per unit lattice of the crystal of the zeolite and the number of nitrogen atoms adsorbed per unit lattice of the crystal of the zeolite; and a method for separating air which comprises selectively adsorbing nitrogen in air using the above selective adsorbent for nitrogen to thereby achieve separation between nitrogen and oxygen.</p> |
