1,001,790. Traversing yarns on to packages. ONDERZOEKINGSINSTUUT RESEARCH N.V. Nov. 6, 1963 [Nov. 7, 1962], No. 43779/63. Heading D1J. A yarn 4, Figs. 1 and 2, is traversed on to a yarn package 3 by passing it through opposed slots 8, 9 in a tube 5 and then blowing air through the tube alternately from each end. The traverse limits are defined by photo-electric cells 10 and 11 responsive to the presence of the yarn and controlling valves 19, 20 via a control device 12. In Fig. 2 the yarn 4 passes upwardly from a pulley 7 and over a yarn guide 6 before passing through the slits 8, 9 of the tube 5, the yarn guide 6 being biased against a non-circular disc 21 by a spring 25. The control means 12 causes the non- circular disc 21 to move about an axis 27 in synchromism with the thread traverse such that the length of thread extending between the yarn guide 6 and the package 3 is always constant. In a modified construction Fig. 4 (not shown) the disc 21 is further controlled by additional signalling devices at or near the reversing points of the traverse motion.
|
