The invention relates to a food container which comprises a lid and a tray of synthetic material, said parts being adapted to be joined along their peripheral edges, and one removable seal having an edge (6) of the tray (2) provided with a peripheral portion (16) which extends upwards, and an edge (7) of the lid (5) having a peripheral portion (29) which extends downwards. A seal (8) comprising a removable portion (9), attached to the remainder of the tray (2) by some tips (13), central portion (10) and two end portions (11,12) are located on the edge (6) which also comprises a flat portion (14) which is joined to the side walls (3) of the tray (2) and is stiffened from outside by a ridge (15) which has a U-shaped cross-section, having a peripheral portion (16) and an internal wall (17) which are joined to the lower side by a bottom (18) so as to define a peripheral outer groove (19). The edge (7) of the lid (5) has a flat portion (20) which overlaps the flat portion (14) of the edge (6), the contact being ensured by means of a ridge (25) at the level of some grooves (27,28)
