PURPOSE: A knife operating device of a lace machine is provided, which is characterized by forming a cam hollowed part on a cam(9), not piling chip or dust owing to inserting and driving a roller(10) into the cam hollowed part, opening and shutting a big and a small knives by elevation of elevating blocks(7), increasing the expected life span and maximizing stability. CONSTITUTION: The knife operating device is comprised of: the elevating blocks(7) elevating by two elevating posts(6)(6'); rods(4) connected with a big and a small knife sliders(3)(3'); the lower end of the rods(4) joined and fixed on the upper center part of the elevating blocks(7); the elevating posts(6)(6') which are fixed on a base frame, elevating stably the elevating blocks(7) in the vertical direction; the roller(10) which is installed on the outside of the elevating blocks(7), interlocking with the cam(9); the cam hollowed part formed on the inside of the cam(9); the roller(10) inserted into the cam hollowed part; when the cam(9) is rotated, the big and the small knife sliders(3)(3') elevating in accordance with elevation of the elevating blocks(7); and the big and the small knives interlocked, opened and shut.
