<p>This invention relates to a method for transferring data between a circuit switched environment wherein data is transmitted in recurrent frames, each frame comprising a plurality of time slots, each time slot defining at least a part of a channel, and a packet switched environment, wherein data is transmitted in packets. The method comprises the steps of : queuing, channel by channel, data received from the packet switched environment to be transmitted on the circuit switched environment; queuing, in a bypass queue, those data received from a time slot position on the circuit switched environment that are to be forwarded in the same time slot position on the same circuit switched environment; sequentially fetching, time slot by time slot, said queued data in the same order as said time slots are to be arranged in a frame for the transmission; and forwarding said time slots for transmission on the circuit switched environment.
