The invention concerns a sliding roof system wherein the rear roof element (2) comprises a central element (5) mobile relative to said rear roof element (2). The central element (5) is linked on each side of the vehicle to the body (3) by two respectively front (33) and rear (27) pivoting arms and is articulated on a respective front (31) and rear (24) pivot pin borne by a respective end (32, 26) of the corresponding pivoting arm (33, 27) whereof the other respective end (34, 28) is articulated on the vehicle body (3).
