874,387. Tumbler switches. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS. Jan. 12, 1960 [Jan. 12, 1959], No. 1121/60. Class 38 (5). A U-shaped base 12 has a threaded bush 14 in which is pivoted a tumbler 20 with a spring- loaded end 28 for co-operation with a lever 50 pivoted on a pin 48 to produce a snap-action thereof. The lever 50 has a flanged end 56 for engagement with a lever 42 which is pivoted on a pin 46 and engages the operating members 38 of two retractive switch units 34. In the "off". position (Fig. 3) the lever 42 is held against pin 48 by the members 38, and the lever 50 is pressed against pin 46, there being a gap 58 between flange 56 and lever 42 to allow for manufacturing tolerances in the various parts. More than two switch units 34 may be provided for control by the one tumbler 20. |
