PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sintered friction material capable of controlling increase in aggressiveness to an opposite material and deposition to an opposite material as much as possible and maintaining a high coefficient of friction and high abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: This sintered friction material comprises a copper-based sintered friction material composed of copper or a copper alloy as a matrix, a solid lubricant, an abrasive and a friction adjuster. Calcium carbonate is mixed as the friction adjuster in a volume ratio of 1-10%.
