The present invention relates to an improved method and kit for quantifying the catalytic activity of methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) employing a [<14>C] N<5>N<10>-methylenetetrahydrofolate (CH2-THF) based radioenzymatic assay.The figure depicts thin-layer chromatography of the radio-labelled substrate, the product of the enzymatic assay using the partially purified preparation, and MTHFR in the supernatant fraction of the crude liver homogenate.
