PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate trouble in measurement of an analyte by reducing actions of hemoglobin. SOLUTION: This reagent is suitable for measuring the concentration of the analyte contained in a biological liquid containing the hemoglobin such as whole blood. The reagent comprises a flavin-dependent enzyme having the specificity for the analyte, a flavin cofactor contained only when the flavin is not bound to the flavin-dependent enzyme, a tetrazolium dye precursor, an electron transfer agent and nitrite. The reagent causes dye formation that is a criterion of the analyte concentration. The nitrite suppresses the interfering dye formation non-enzymically caused by the hemoglobin. The reagent is used in a dry strip for measuring the glucose contained in the whole blood. |
