PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wood vermin controlling agent exhibiting activities such as insecticidal action, paralyzing action, ingestion-inhibiting action and repelling action, producible at a low cost, having improved safety to human and animal and giving low environmental load and obtain a synergic agent for improving the wood vermin controlling action and the persistency and reducing the addition amount of the commercially available insecticide used as an active ingredient of the wood vermin controlling agent. SOLUTION: The salicylic acid ester compound expressed by formula [I] (the definitions of R1 and W1 are described in the specification) is used as an active ingredient and a synergic agent of a wood vermin controlling agent.
