PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase product yield by bringing the particle sizes of a product polymer to a target value in the semi-batch type emulsion polymerization of vinyl chloride. SOLUTION: After a certain time from the start of continuous charge of a monomer, a catalyst and an emulsifier, the reaction heat at this time is measured and the particle size of the product polymer is predicted from the reaction heat. In the case that the predicted particle size of the product polymer is not in a prescribed range, the charges of the monomer, the catalyst and the emulsifier are adjusted to put the final particle size of the product polymer to the target value.
