PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide foamable resin particles which are excellent in resistance to styrene and can give a molded foam having sufficient foamability and moldability for molding with a metal mold. SOLUTION: The particles are prepared by the suspension copolymerization of 40-96 wt.% methacrylic ester, 3-20 wt.% methacrylic acid, and 1-40 wt.% unsaturated nitrile and contain an easily volatile blowing agent. The degree of dispersion of the particles (Mw/Mn, Mw: wt. average mol.wt. and Mn: number average mol.wt.), which is obtained from the mol.wt. in terms of polystyrene, is adjusted to 3.0-10.0. A molded foam is obtained from the particles.
