PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that generates an image with high image quality by compensating weak points of the error diffusion method. SOLUTION: An image feature extract section 130 outputs an edge level for an extended edge and a quantization threshold generating section 140 generates a quantization threshold oscillated with an amplitude width depending on this edge level. A quantization processing section 120 uses the quantization threshold to quantize image data by the error diffusion method. A dither threshold generating section 141 of the quantization threshold generating section 140 uses a proper dither threshold value matrix to generate an image that has excellent stability and smoothness especially at its flat part.
