The device has a first counter mechanism driven by a gas meter shaft for the metered gas volume, a second counter mechanism for the temperature corrected volume, a gear wheel gear cyclically coupled to both mechanisms, a gas temperature sensor and a lever transferring a temperature change to a control arrangement. The control arrangement stops or starts the second counter mechanism. The device has a first counter mechanism driven by a gas meter shaft for the metered, non-corrected gas volume, a second counter mechanism for the temperature corrected volume, a gear wheel gear cyclically coupled to both counter mechanisms, a gas temperature sensor, a lever (10) transferring a temperature change to a control arrangement and a common housing. The control arrangement is a rotation symmetrical body (3) with a magnetic control area axially movable on a drive shaft depending on the gas temperature change transferred by the lever and rotating at the rate of the first counter mechanism to stop or start the second counter mechanism. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of temperature conversion of gas volumes measured with gas volume meters, especially rotary piston gas volume meters.
