PURPOSE: An apparatus for generating a seek direction detecting signal for optical pickup is provided to distinguish a relative position between a beam spot center and a disc track center by using a main beam and a sub beam. CONSTITUTION: The second signal processor(40) includes a differential(41) outputting TCS. the differential(41) outputs signal(S(P1+P3)) which is sum of signal outputted from the first external photosphere(P1) and signal outputted from the second internal photosphere(P3), and signal(S(P2+P4)) which is sum of signal outputted from the first internal photosphere(P2) and the second external photosphere(P4). the seek direction detecting signal of an optical disk is generated by using photosphere of TES outputted from the first signal processor(30) and TCS outputted from the second signal processor(40).
