The valve has a piezo actuator, a hydraulic converter (2) with a pressure chamber (5) between first and second pistons (3,4), a valve closure element (6) and a spring element (8) directly coupled to the second piston of the hydraulic converter. The second piston is in two parts with a cylindrical element and a rod element. Independent claims are also included for the following: the use of a valve for controling liquids in a common rail injector.
