PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup device capable of canceling solid-state pattern noise by dispersion generated in the output signals due to the circuit constitution of the solid-state image pickup device or the like. SOLUTION: First, by turning ON switches S1-1 to S1-m connected to signal lines 1-1 to 1-m, the output signals to be current signals from pixels G1k to Gmk (k: the integer of 1<=k<=n) arranged in one row in capacitors C-1 to C-m flow in and thus are sampled and held. Then, by successively turning ON the switches S3-1, S3-2 to S3-m, the sampled and held signals are outputted to the capacitors C-1 to C-m. Then, by turning ON the switches S1-1 to S1-m and S2-1 to S2-m, the capacitors C-1 to C-m are reset and preparation for the next image pickup operation is performed.
