PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for controlling bus, which perform processing of retry in a short time, can prevent the transaction processing of useless retry, and further, are inexpensive. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a common bus 10 for transferring data between master devices A, C and E and target devices B and D and a busy signal line busy for connecting the master devices and the target devices and when the target device can not quickly respond to the request of data transfer from the master device, a busy signal to be sent to the busy signal line is asserted. In response to the assert of the busy signal from the buster signal line, the master device releases the common bus by interrupting data transfer with the target device and in response to the deassert of the busy signal from the busy signal line, the data transfer is restarted from the time point of interruption.
