PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel having an elongating and contracting mechanism having good space efficiency and excellent in productivity. SOLUTION: This lens barrel is equipped with a 1st sliding barrel body 2, a 2nd barrel body 3 sliding while rotating, a base part 4 and a motor. A feed screw 13a and a rotating mechanism 14 sliding and rotating the 2nd barrel body 3 by the driving force of the motor are disposed at the base part 4. The 1st barrel body 2 can slide by a helicoid mechanism formed between the 1st and the 2nd barrel bodies 2 and 3 and the rotation of the 2nd barrel body 3. The lens barrel is equipped with a driving gear 11 transmitting the driving force of the motor to the screw 13a and the mechanism 14, and the gear 11 is constituted of a cylindrical gear 11a and an axial center gear 11b whose axial center part 11c is inserted inside the gear 11a. The gear 11b intervenes between the screw 13a and the motor, and the gear 11a intervenes between the mechanism 14 and the motor.
