<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe inspecting method capable of accurately searching for the position of a pipe covered by a covering layer or the position of an opening such as a breakage opening in the pipe. SOLUTION: This pipe inspecting method comprises a first process for inputting a sound wave of specified frequency components into the pipe 1 covered by the covering layer to propagate it therethrough, a second process for detecting the sound wave propagating through the pipe 1 at a plurality of positions outside the covering layer to find a spatial sound pressure distribution of the detected wave, and a third process for inferring the position of the pipe 1 or the position of the opening A developed in the pipe 1 from the distribution found in the second process. Prior to the first process, a lead-out preparing process is undergone for leading out the resonance frequencies of resonances set up, at least, in both the pipe cross-section direction and the pipe length direction within the pipe 1. In the first process, the sound wave having the resonance frequencies as components is inputted into the pipe 1.</p> |
