PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide binoculars in which observation is performed with binoculars and image pickup is performed with an image pickup device respectively and independently. SOLUTION: The binoculars having a recording and reproducing function are provided with the main body of binoculars MU having a binocular optical system 100, an operation mechanism for performing operations for the optical system 100, and a container housing them, an image pickup device 200 and a power source device 900. The device 200 has an image pickup optical system 210 arranged in the middle of the optical system 100 and having the angle of view at which a visual filed equivalent to the real visual field of the optical system 100 is realized, a photoelectric conversion part 230 for converting ob observed image formed by the optical system 210 into an electrical signal, an image processing part 240 for processing the converted image signal and an image recording part 250 for recording the processed image.
