PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas meter, capable of suppressing increases in a battery capacity and a number of primary cells. SOLUTION: The gas meter comprises a seismic detection unit, a gas leakage sensor, and an electrical circuit 3, such as a microcomputer for controlling them or the like. In this case, a generator 4 is contained in a gas meter body 2, and generator 4 has an accelerating mechanism 22, a permanent magnet 21 and a generating coil 20. The rotation of a rotary shaft L1, which is rotated by a crank mechanism 12, is accelerated by the mechanism 22, the magnet 21 is rotated, and an induced electromotive force is generated in the coil 20. The generated power is rectified by a rectifier 30 and supplied to the circuit 3.
