PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic closing mechanism which is installed through simplified wiring work by reducing the number of wires, and can suitably carry out switching control of an opening/closing body. SOLUTION: The automatic opening and closing mechanism is comprised of a control section 3 for controlling a switching device for automatically opening/closing the opening/closing body, an operating switch section 4 electrically connected to the control section, for outputting operating commands of opening, closing, and stopping the opening/closing body, and an obstacle sensor 20 for outputting at least a stopping command to the control section in response to sensing of an obstacle on a track of the opening/ closing body during closing operation of the same. The obstacle sensor 20 includes a command outputting section 21 connected to a connection terminal of the operating switch section, and a detecting section 22 connected to the command outputting section, for detecting the operating state of the opening/closing body.
