PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital still camera capable of image signal autofocusing in compliance with circumstances. SOLUTION: When a power source is turned on, the camera is started in a state where a display part is turned off (state S1). When a shutter button is half-depressed, a quick return mirror is made down and phase difference AF is performed in a state where live view display is turned off (state S3). When the shutter button is fully depressed, photographing operation is started and a focus lens is moved to a position where it is kept as it is, a front focus position and a rear focus position, respectively, in a state where the quick return mirror is kept up. Then, contrast in an AF area being a specified partial area in an image at each position is compared and a focus lens position where the obtained value is maximum is selected (state S4). At the selected focus lens position, image data is photographed and recorded in a memory card (state S5) and operation is returned to the state S1. |
