PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of uncomfortable vibration by preventing abnormal reduction in engine speed at decelerating when braking with 0% of a throttle opening, to improve consistency with normal control, to prevent deterioration of fuel economy, power performance, engine noises, and braking performance, and to suppress increasing of vehicular weight and costs, in a shift control device for an automatic transmission. SOLUTION: This shift control device for an automatic transmission is provided with a controlling means shifting down the automatic transmission from a high-speed stage to a low-speed stage, when engine speed becomes not more than a predetermined engine speed though a vehicular speed is not lowered till a down shift determining vehicular speed, during controlling at decelerating wherein a throttle is fully closed.
