PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of performing the line typesetting process of characters having different fonts and different size properly without depending on a base line which is preliminarily set to the fonts. SOLUTION: In an electronic line typesetting, the embox (virtual body) of characters is decided based on the size of the characters which are to be subjected to a line typesetting process and a new matched point is decided by comparing the M-box with a preliminarily decided reference character belonging to the same font and, then, the pertinent characters to be processed are made to be matched on the matched line in the line by using this matched point.
