A thermochemical process for converting urban and special refuse into basic chemical products, characterised by effecting, within several physically interconnected thermodynamic environments, on refuse to which inerting substance have been previously added: pyrolysis treatment at a temperature slowly increasing from 100 DEG C to at least about 700 DEG C, gasification treatment on the carbonaceous residues originating from the preceding pyrolysis treatment, at a temperature of between 700 DEG C and about 1100 DEG C, by means of oxygen mixed with steam and carbon dioxide, to obtain hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, which are used for conditioning the pyrolysis treatment, and inerting treatment on the heavy metal compounds, halogenated compounds and aromatic compounds obtained from the preceding pyrolysis and gasification treatments, utilizing the heat evolved by said treatments, the added inerting substances, and the actual substances produced by the process. |
