Brushless DC motor, stator disc has flattened inverted conical cross section

A disk type stator 507 for a discoid rotary dynamoelectric machine (preferably a brush-less DC motor) includes a plurality of radially disposed groups of conductors 503 laid in slots 504 formed by dividers. The slots are tapered in plan view, the slots getting narrower towards the center of the disk. The slots are also tapered in cross section so that they get deeper towards the center (which is at the top of the drawing). The conductor windings 503 extend radially within the slots, and a ferromagnetic material such as clock spring wound iron laminations 509 may be laid over the bottom surface of the slots. The rotor 501 with permanent magnets 502 is separated from the stator by axial gap 508.
