The invention relates to an above-ground hydrant employed in water supply installations, for fire extinguishing or for other purposes. According to the invention, the above-ground hydrant comprises an above-ground upper body (1) and an underground lower body (2) assembled by means of a detachable flange (12) provided with a circular groove (f) for generating a break-off zone having a minimal strength in case of collision of the upper body, wherein the driving shaft (6) is engaged by means of a detachable coupling (14) which unties when the detachable flange breakes-off. The cock has double sealing comprising a valve (21) having a central body (o) and some radial ribs (p and q) with a rubber jacket (r) provied with a semi-toroidal prominence having the function of an "O" ring, and an aluminium ball with rubber jacket (25) clogging the passage section on a seat comprising a rubber-coated metal ring (26). The claimed hydrant has two fixed joints (3) screwed into some bosses (C) horizontally arranged at an angle of 90...120 degree . The hydrant has the advantages of being mountable in any position in open space, as a wall or corner hydrant, of breaking off only the dismountable flange in case of impact, and of not requiring the mounting of an on-off cock upstream.
