Notebook computers have a short operating time due to the limited capacity of secondary batteries. A fuel cell (22) connected to a hydride accumulator makes significantly longer operating times possible. The configuration of the fuel cell (22) inside a display unit (2) allows the generally two module installation spaces (11, 12) of the main unit (1) of a portable computer system to be used in a versatile manner. Even if one module installation space is occupied by a hydride accumulator, which can be slid in and which is configured as a module, another module installation space (12) is available to the user for sliding in drives, for example, a CD ROM drives. The flat configuration of the fuel cell (22) in the vertically raised display unit (2) makes it possible to obtain a high degree of efficiency of the fuel cell (22). |
