An event management system (50) receives a stream of event/alarm notifications (52) in a first CORBA notification channel (56). That first channel duplicates the received stream n times and outputs the resulting n identical streams of event/alarm notifications (58) to n corresponding second CORBA notification channels (60). Each of the n second CORBA notification channels implements a notification service (64) to filter its received stream of event/alarm notifications and output a corresponding filtered stream of event/alarm notifications (62). The output filtered streams from the second channels are then further processed by a corresponding one of a plurality of processing nodes (66). The notification service filter characteristics for each of the second channels are dynamically managed by a control node (74) to efficiently distribute event and alarm notifications among and between the included plurality of processing nodes. To accomplish this goal, the control node samples (100) the stream at the first CORBA notification channel and determindes (112) the second CORBA notification channel filter parameters necessary for properly distributing processing load.
|
