The invention relates to a system and method for determining the optimal operating speed of a production machine which is provided for operating within a defined speed range. According to the invention, a data acquisition device (30) is assigned to the production machine and is provided for recording production data, especially the time and duration of machine stoppages due to failure events, as well as the number of pieces produced per unit of time. A data processing device (1) is provided which, by means of a data entry (11), records additional information, especially the respective reason for failure, as well as the identification of the products to be processed. Production data can be retrieved from the data acquisition device (30) by means of a production data acquisition device (21) and can be linked to the additional information from the data entry (11). An evaluation function (22) is provided for determining an operating speed by using production data and a stored evaluation model (32). An optimization function (23) is used to form an optimal operational speed set value by linking the determined operating speed to the production piece costs. |
