PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal device high in contrast and a reflection type color liquid crystal device capable of vivid color display. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal layer is disposed between an upper substrate and a lower substrate and a metal reflection plate is disposed on a lower substrate side. A polarizing plate is disposed on the outside of the upper substrate and a light scattering plate is disposed between the polarizing plate and the upper substrate. A quarter wavelength plate is disposed between the light scattering plate and the polarizing plate and the delay axis of the quarter wavelength plate and the absorption axis of the polarizing plate cross each other at nearly 45 degrees. |
