PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively produce nano-particles each <=10 nm in size hopeful of unique physical properties or of affording functional materials with advanced performance, for solving such a problem that, for example, conventional ferromagnetic microparticles for magnetic recording use is each >=10 nm in size and therefore ultrahigh densification at TB(terabite) levels for magnetic recording use has been impossible. SOLUTION: The nano-particles of amorphous SiO2+MIOj oxide (i and j are each an integer of 1-9) are produced by the following process: an aqueous solution of y mol MXp.nH2O (M is a transition metal or rare earth metal; X is a halogen element selected from Cl, Br and I; p is 2 or 3; and n is an integer of 0-9) and an aqueous solution of y mol Na2SiO3.mH2O (m is 9 or 0) are mixed together at room temperature, the mixture are left at rest to form a precipitate, which is then washed, dried and then baked in air to effect conversion into a oxide. |
