PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nickel and a palladium complexes useful for (co) polymerization of an olefin. SOLUTION: This nickel or palladium bidentate diimino complex contains at least one group OSi(R) 3 (each R may be the same as or different from one another and is selected from the group consisting of a straight-chain or branched 1-20C alkyl, 3-20C cycloalkyl, 6-20C aryl, 2-20C alkenyl, 7-20C arylalkyl, 7-20C alkylarly, 8-20C arylalkenyl and 8-20C alkenylaryl group and preferably each R is independently methyl, ethyl or propyl group). The method for producing a nickel and a palladium bidentate dimino complexes are provided. This method for using the complexes in an olefin polymerization is provided.
