A machine for bonding the fibres of a web, used in the manufacture of sanitary napkins, at spaced intervals comprises upper and lower endless conveyers A, B which are synchronously driven by an electric motor 26, the web being fed between adjacent runs of the conveyers. Each conveyer has a working surface comprising tranverse spaced parallel bars 13 each having an isosceles triangular section and disposed so that their base surfaces face outwardly. The spaces between the bars at the working sections of the conveyers are vertically aligned. Adhesive is fed from a tank 16 to the inner side of the lower run of the upper conveyer and flows through the spaces on to the web, a suction duct 17 drawing adhesive through the web and the upper run of the lower conveyer. Adhesive remaining on the upper conveyer is withdrawn by a perforated suction tube 19. |
