PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving the characteristics of a ferrous shape memory alloy the which a cast material of a ferrous shape memory alloy combining excellent shape memorizing capacity with sufficient strength can easily be obtained. SOLUTION: A dissolved ferrous shape memory alloy is cast into a shape close to that of the product, is thereafter heat-treated in the range of 1,050 to 1,200 deg.C, is then subjected to primary working of 7.7 to 10% and heating at 500 to 800 deg.C and is moreover subjected to secondary working of 5.3 to 10% to improve the characteristics of the ferrous shape memory alloy. If required, after the secondary working, heating at 500 to 800 deg.C and third working of 5.3 to 10% are applied.
