PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming apparatus free from gradation skipping because of energy omission of a laser light for forming latent images and a method therefor. SOLUTION: In this image-forming apparatus and its method, the gradation skipping is solved by changing a setting method as follows to set a dither table constituted of 4*4 pixels in a gradation-processing circuit 410. Supposed, e.g. that the gradation skipping by five gradations is brought about between image signal values Na1 and Nal+1, when an image signal of Na1 or smaller is inputted to the gradation-processing circuit 410, the pixel is outputted by a value proportional to the inputted image signal value. When an image signal of Na1+1 is inputted, the pixel is outputted by the value Na1 and adjacent pixels are outputted by increasing values by one gradation. When an image signal of Na1+5 or larger is inputted, the adjacent pixels are not used and the pixel is expressed by one pixel as originally. |
