PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for exterminating moles, capable of simply carrying out the extermination at a low cost without requiring complicated equipment, device, or the like, effective in a wide range, and excellent in sustainability of the effectiveness. SOLUTION: In this method for exterminating moles, the soil 9 where the moles inhabit is dug in an approximately vertical direction to make openings 7a, 7b in a tunnel 5 dug by the moles, and smoke generators 1 are inserted into the openings. The openings 7a, 7b are closed with the soil 8, and the smoke generators are made to generate smoke S in the tunnels 5. The tunnels 5 are consequently filled with the smoke S, and an oxygen content of the atmospheric air in the tunnels 5 is decreased to reach an anoxic condition. Thus, the moles are brought into a suffocated state. Further, the effect of the smoke S on exterminating the moles is enhanced by making the generated gas S contain a sulfide- based gas.
