LIFETIME INSPECTING DEVICE FOR GLASS-MELTING FURNACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and efficiently measure the wear quantity of a furnace wall, to permit the lifetime inspection for a glass melting furnace with ease and sureness. SOLUTION: The inspection device comprises an X-ray transmitter 12, that is placed at a side of the exterior of a melting furnace body 13 so as to transmit the X-rays to the furnace wall of the body 3, an X-ray receiver 13 that is placed at another side of the exterior of the body 3 so as to receive the X-ray transmitted through the furnace wall of the body 3, and a data processing and monitoring device 14 that determine the thickness of furnace wall from the transmitted quantity of the X-rays detected by the receiver 13, to inspect the lifetime of a glass-melting furnace 1 based on the thickness of the wall determined.
