PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal and a communication system by which real time performance can be enhanced in the confirmation of a rough position of a specific mobile phone. SOLUTION: The mobile information terminal 1 transmits a position detection purpose telephone number to a communication network 15 to receive base station position information denoting a position of a base station 19 to which a mobile phone 16 corresponding to the position detection purpose telephone number is registered from the communication network 15 and overlaps a service area of the base station denoted by the received base station position information on a map and displays the result on an LCD panel 2. No position information service center is interposed between the mobile information terminal 1 and the mobile phone 16 being an object of the position detection different from a conventional system so that this system can enhance the real time performance in the confirmation of a rough position of the specific mobile phone.
